Bill and Pete to the Rescue-- by: Tomie dePaola Published by User, 16 years ago A classic tale of good versus evil, this book is a touching story about the things people (or crocodiles) will do for their family. It teaches that no matter how different you may be with your relatives, you are still family and should help each other/5(5). I really enjoyed reading, "Bill and Pete To The Rescue." I would read this book to second or third graders. The book is about crocodiles on the bank of the Nile. A big bad man came and capture crocodiles to use them in a pet show and then make a suit case out of them/5(4).
Bill and Pete go all the way from Egypt to the United States to rescue Bill's cousin, Jane Allison. Many mishaps occur, but all is well at the end of the story. There is also a suprise ending, but you have to read the book to find out. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a little family-oriented adventure/5. School Library Journal astutely noted the liberal use of "happy colors" in this book: soothing shades of green, pink, blue and yellow. I agree with the idea of their observation; it did seem to me that Bill and Pete Go Down the Nile had an especially cheerful ambience about it, which likely can be attributed to Tomie dePaola's color choices. Knowing his flair for the artistic, I'm certain that /5.
Stowing away on a ship bound for New Orleans, Bill and his bird buddy, Pete, head to the rescue. But when Pete gets caught by the Rich Lady, it's up to Bill to save the day. Kids and parents everywhere will love Tomie dePaola's hilarious story featuring the Egyptian pair's first visit to the United States. From the Hardcover edition. There a throng of friendly 'gators gives Bill a rousing bayou welcome and helps him rescue Little Jane. This book, the first of three to date about Bill and Pete, is probably the better of the first two, in my view.
The pictures that Tomie dePaola includes are of a different style than in most of his books, but still are very good, and fit the story well. The basic style of the narrative is similar to that in Bill 4/5.
